Silver Tips
Congratulations on your new piece of silver! Silver is a fine, exlusive metal that has been used to create many types of products that we use today. Proper care for your silver will enable it to keep its original shine and beauty. The following tips have proven helpful and effective to keep your silver looking as good as new.
1. Polish the silver with a soft cloth and polish. We recommend using Hagerty Silversmiths's Polish to polish your silver. All of their products are good, choose one according to your preference. Then rinse and dry immediately.
2. Never use a sharp edge to remove something from the silver - silver is a very soft metal and will easily scratch or dent.
3. To remove wax from candlesticks, run the silver under hot water and gently remove the wax. Remember, silver is a soft metal - do not apply a lot of pressure when removing wax
4. Storing Silver in an air-tight environment will prevent it from tarnishing, or turning black.
5. Do not store food/drinks in silver dishes. Wash out the silver after each use.
6. Many silver pieces that are created to store or serve food in (for example: silver cups) will have a "gold wash" lining the inside so as not to give a bad taste to the food.
